September 20, 201114 yr Good Morning Friends,When you have a board that has a little twist in it similar to an air plane propeller, does that mean that it can't be planed with the planer?
September 20, 201114 yr Morning Ralph, as it is fresh off the pile, no. If you plane it that way you will end up with a beautifully planed board - with a twist in it. What is needed to be done is, if the board will fit on the jointer, surface one side so it is truly flat, then run it through the planer. If the board is too wide for the jointer you can build a sled to put it on to keep it from rocking and following the twist. Thanks, Paul
September 20, 201114 yr If the twist is too bad,you would have to cut the board first. Then it's off to the joiner and then you can plane to thickness. Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
September 22, 201114 yr Author Good Morning Fellows,Personally I just set it aside or cut it in shorter lengths that would allow me to use it in a sub frame of sorts and when I run it through the planer I put a shim under the raised corner so the planer has a chance to plan off the surface to attempt to make it flat. Naturally the board the would be thinner on the raised corner and in some cases would be too thin to use in the project. Thanks for your support.
