Great loss for the scrolling community

Dear friends,

This letter is to let you know that we have lost a dear member of our scrollsawing family.  Raymond Wilckens, of Wilckens Woodworking, passed away unexpectedly last Saturday evening, September 17.

Raymond, and his Son, Dan, have been producing fabulous scrollsaw patterns & projects for many years. Many of you have purchased patterns from them, have seen their work in Creative Woodworks & Crafts magazine, and most likely met Raymond and his wife Betty, and Dan and his wife Tammy, at scrollsaw picnics & shows across the country.

Raymond was a fantastic scrollsawer, cutting out many hundreds, if not thousands of projects over the years.  He has been a huge part of the scrollsawing community, and he played a major role in making the hobby as popular as it is today.  He will be greatly missed!

Here are details about Raymond's Visitation & Funeral Services:

The Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, September 21, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 17200 E. 39th St. S., Independence, Missouri.

The Funeral will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Thursday, September 22 at 10:30AM.

Luncheon to follow after service and burial in Higginsville Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri.

All arrangements are being handled by Speaks Family Legacy Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, Missouri  64052.  They will accept any floral deliveries for Raymond.

Mailing address for Mrs. Betty Wilckens is 4912 Phelps Rd, Kansas City, Missouri 64136.

Mailing address for Dan Wilckens is 603 Whitestone Dr, Grain Valley, Missouri 64029

Please keep the Wilckens family in your thoughts & prayers.  I know they would enjoy hearing from everyone in our scrollsawing community, and will greatly appreciate your caring and support.

Sincerely,

Dirk Boelman

God bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.

Greg, I am so sorry about Raymond. Please know that our prayers are with him and his family. So how do we get in touch with the family? Thank you Greg, and again, sorry for the loss.

My heart was heavy when hearing of the passing of Ray.  He was such a wonderful and positive man, and a great contributor to the scrolling community in so many ways.  I have know he and Dan since 1997 when I first started scroll sawing and I got to spend time with them at many shows and events and consider their whole family 'friends.'  It is a great loss for scroll sawing and we have all lost a wonderful man and friend. My thoughts and prayers are with Dan and the rest of the family.

This clock is one of their patterns from the magazine back in '07 I believe. I made this last year as a Christmas present for my stepson and his wife.
