September 24, 201114 yr  These are the new Princeton pen kits from Woodcraft. The upper one is the black titanium kit with Bocote wood I turned for a client. The bottom is the Platinum kit with some scrap wood that I can't identify. The bottom picture is of the new turning tool I bought this week fromhttp://www.woodchuck-tools.com/Tools.htm . It's called the WOODCHUCK PEN PRO. I used it on these pens and I can tell you it's the best turning tool I've used. It devours material and cuts the turning time for blanks and leaves a smooth finish ready for light sanding and finish. Well worth the purchase price. It's a must for Trustone blanks. Sorry for the blurry pics my camera died and used the cell phone to take these.
September 24, 201114 yr Author Thanks Charles! I'm not real fond of the one turned with Bocote but it was made by request and I'm not one to 2nd guess the customerThe Princeton is manufactured by Berea hardwoods. Berea hardwoods carries it under the name VIRAGE on there website. Also Arizona Sillouete carries this kit. It's one of the most comfortable pens to write with that I've found.
September 25, 201114 yr Wow those are nice kits Mike. Both turned out very nice. I really like the bocate. I have a easy woofing tool that is similar to the one you have. I must say I really like mine also. It does a great job roughing out a blank. I also use mine on bowls and hand mirrors.John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
October 10, 201114 yr Author Here's the link: http://www.woodchuck-tools.com/Tools.htmI think with shipping mine was $72.00. You may be able to work out a special since it's for the Vets but I don't know. It's the best money I've spent for a turning tool in a long time. The Gentleman that owns to company is a pleasure to talk with and the service is fantastic.
October 10, 201114 yr I really like em Mike. I am very fond of slim pen kits, I love the slimmer simpler design. Great work sir. John Morris The Patriot Woodworker
