September 26, 201114 yr Hi all, I need a volunteer who can split a piece of amboyna burl for me.  The last time i tried to cut a piece of this into pen blanks, it was mangled so badly that I will probably only get one pen out of it and a fridge magnet and it was a 5x7x2" piece! I just can't keep the cut straight, no matter what I do.  This piece here is 5x2x1 1/4 approximately and I just want to split it down the middle.  I will send the piece to whoever volunteers and in the box will be a return label for a small flat rate box, or a money order for that if I can't make a return label  I figure it's worth $10 spent to split it right without destroying it, seeing as each piece could have the potential to earn me 3 to 4 times that cost.  So any of you with a table saw etc. that can rip this thing straight down the middle, let me know please.  If someone agrees to do this, I prefer that it be someone that I know from this forum. No offense intended.  I will be ready to send this off after the 3rd of October  Thanks all   Charles
September 26, 201114 yr Charles, I'll gladly do it for you, lets give your request a couple more days though, I am sure some one closer to you then California will step up to the plate. You'll save on postage and a quicker turn around. But I will do it for you. John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
September 26, 201114 yr I'll pay the return shipping Charles, no big deal. That'll save ya some dinero!Charles Nicholls said: Yep, thanks John no problem. The flat rate box is how it would be sent out anyway so it doesn't really matter I guess unless the person returning it wants to pay to ship it themselves then it may, so I'll wait and see who else offers. Can't send it right now anyway  Charles  John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
