Good Morning Friends,

We all know that warm air rises toward the ceilings of the rooms in the house and if we run the ceiling fans in reverse they will move the air across the ceiling and down the walls to once again mix in with the heat coming from the registers we will save on the expense of heating out homes.

True or False?

True.    But, then you have to pay for the fan, and the electric to run the fan.

Good Morning Steve,

Yes, it is a fact that you would have to pay for the running of the fan but, in the same token would you not have to pay for the furnace when it is running to replenish the air lost due to the cold air pushing it toward the ceiling.

It is a known fact that a fan running on slow speed in the reverse setting will save on the running of the furnace. It costs more to run the furnace than it does to run the fan continuously to recirculate the warm air.
