Router Bits??

Featured Replies

I was having a discussion on the phone with one of our members and we were discussing router bits. It caused me to think about the router bits that we use.

I have several Freud bits, some Woodriver from Woodcraft, Bosch, and Whiteside bits and one or two from MLCS and a plywood straight cutting set from Grizzly.

I am fine with most of the bits I have. I got a great deal on the Woodriver bits through a sale several years ago from Woodcraft.

I was just wondering which bits you use and which ones you don't use or like.

Also do you buy most of your bits in 1/4" or 1/2" shanks. I find I buy most of mine even if the bit is a small bit in 1/2" just to keep from changing the collar. Not sure why, since you have to loosen it to change bits anyway. One of my strange ways I guess.

Share your router bit collection and shank size with us.

Good question John. I have maybe a hundred or so. 98% 1/2 " shank. lots of makers.

Heinz 57 on makers of the bits...all 1/2 inch....only a few 1/4 for the trim router.

All shapes, sizes and makers.  About 50% 1/2"   Here's a question though.  Who actually manufactures Grizzley router bits?

I probably have in the neighborhood 50 - 75 bits.90% of those would be 1/2 shank. A lot of different manufactures or labels.

Wayne, it does nothing to whiteside. I guess the owners wanted to retire from Eagle and they sold out to the other company. Eagle was just a reseller, like routerbits.com or Holbren. All I know was the eagle site was the slowest thing to get around. It seemed to take forever to load and display.
