The Majestic build

Featured Replies

Ok since my feeble mind can't seem to find the thread that I had posted the other pictures of this build to, I will post them again here.

These are 2 grain matching pieces of amboyna burl but since one is a bit thinner than the other, I am doubting that the grain will match as well with the final product.

Rough cutting nearly completed.

ning-000-0001-40119-11.jpg?width=750After the rough cutting was complete I realized that part of the wood grain had torn away, not deep at all but it does need attention. After putting in some thin CA glue and let it get slightly tacky, i put in some of the sawdust and applied more thin CA glue to fill in the gap. Now I am just waiting for it to dry before working again. A couple of hours should do nicely, which allows me time to post this and make sure the hardware that i will use to make the final pen is in order.

After this dries, more sanding will be done to see how its going to look. I'll post that when I get done with sanding. if it's not going to look good, I wont even bother putting it together, not with a $44 kit hanging in the balance

Thanks for reading

Thanks Wayne and it worked like a charm. It's partially hidden by the clip but its as smooth as glass now

Drum roll please.......

And here it is the Majestic pen done in Amboyna burl w/Rhodium & gold plating. Enjoy
:)

As a side note, I really wish they would make this pen so that the cap posts on the back like the Majestic Jr.
