October 4, 201114 yr  Or rather a smoking table saw. Used my Delta 10 bench tablesaw to cut some braces for the shed last week and it started smoking and some sparks flying out the side where the motor would be mounted in the cabinet. Finally took it apart Sunday. It looks like the brushings about had it. I'll guess I will order a set of them and sit around 4 to 5 weeks for them to come in.  Well there goes Christmas gifts. Was hoping it was something worst than that. I really need a good excuse to tell my wife I need a bigger tablesaw.     Wayne E
October 4, 201114 yr Hmmmm, Wayne, I know honesty between spouses is the cornerstone of any marriage, but could you have just kind of like maybe sorta pretended like you didn't know what the problem was and declare a new TS was needed  John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
October 4, 201114 yr My wife is always concerned about my safety. So when I need (really, really want) a new tool, I tell her about how it will be much safer than what I currently have or don't have. This sounds like a "Safety" issue to me. Â Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.nethttp://www.awcreationsandwoodcrafts.com'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk' J. October 4, 201114 yr You have to tell her they only put on set of Smoke in them. When the smoke gets out, it is done. Have to have a new one. Plane and simple. John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com

October 5, 201114 yr Author Guys I like your thinking and do appreciate it. But there is one thing I forgot to mention. Been trying to sweet talk to her in letting me up grade the band saw for past few months. Like from a little 9 inch to a 14 inch with riser kit. The way I been working on her is I could re-saw rought cut lumber to make furniture she been wanting. Also been telling her it would save us money and almost no waste on material because I could used some if not all that I re-saw for scroll saw projects. So far she has not said no but have not given in yet. Sort of fib a little on the cost too. Told her it would cost $ 300.00 and it would be brand spancking new not use. Been saving nickels, dimes and pennies while she thinking on it. Got about half saved up so far.  But back to table saw. I would really be pushing it trying to get both. the table saw would be repair and can make it last. Beside I can still make furniture wilth the bench model. I just need something better than what I have now to mill the lumber.  Unless Allen has a got angle for me to try in getting both   Wayne E  Â
