What is meant by the term  of an astragal in the construction of a home new or remodeled?

Astragals are commonly found on the edge of a cabinet door.  Especially useful to hide the vertical gap when two doors come together.

There are other applications.

As usual Larry is right on the money and they are also used to keep the doors from swinging by each other.
