A hopefully glueless project

Featured Replies

Since I was having so much trouble with glues not holding, and since my recent order to PSI came in, I went ahead and started what I hope will be a completely Glueless project.

A bottle stopper, using one of PSI's Orange Stabilized Spalted Maple blanks.

So far all is going well with the turning.  I have stopped for the night though and I do not have a camera that is charged, So pictures will have to wait til morning.

One of the nurses I know is heading out to a craft show starting Thursday so even though I wont be going with her and her hubby, I am able to send some things along.

We'll see how it goes.

Got some 2 part epoxy from her late this afternoon so I am back into the pen making too. Maybe I can get a few more items done before they leave. Going to be a busy couple of days so it may be easier to call me if anyone wants to talk.

Of course I'll be here at the computer after about 9 PM because I do not want to disturb the neighbors.

Have a great night and happy turning

God bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.

Looking good charles. I use the 1" wide strips for lots of different sized projects and it will work just fine. While sanding on the lathe make shure you keep moving from side to side with very light pressure and work up through the different grits. Your patience will be rewarded.

That looks realy nice. Great job!

Beautiful Stopper!

Here is the web site that has another style of metal stoppers.

The site owner, Ruth Niles, is a turner. Her products and service are excellent.

Have you tried any of this product http://www.finewoodworking.com/item/39607/awfs-tool-news-new-finish-combines-the-best-of-oil-and-water-based-products ? I really like it. Dries super fast and you can really build up a nice finish.

That is beautiful!  I love the wood!  That's a bottle stopper to be proud of!

It it can't be fixed with glue and sawdust - it's not worth fixing.
