October 11, 201114 yr comment_39770 I'm trying to decide how deep vertically I need to build the drawers for my router cabinet project. While I don't have that many router bits I want to allow for future acquisitions in my bit storage drawer. What is the tallest 1/2" shank router bit that you use? Report
October 11, 201114 yr comment_39771 Mike the longest 1/2" shank bit I have is a straight flute spiral bit, it's 3.5 inches long. I am sure there might even be some bits taller than that, for the sake of building your drawers, I might go with 4" tall. Anything taller you can easily lay on its side, and I would venture to say that anything taller would be a specialty bit and might deserve a place in its own case anyway. John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker Report
