October 11, 201114 yr Good Morning Friends,There are many styles of straight edges for ripping off the length of a sheet of plywood or truing up a rough sawn board. What method do you use?
October 11, 201114 yr My table saw for ripping lenghts of plywood. (See yesterday's image.)  For truing up an edge, I use my home-made "shooting board." that has two repoitionable lever clamps. I'll post an image if you like.. 80 today, Ralph.. I'm ketchin up on ya.. Larry
October 11, 201114 yr My plywood cuts are most often made on a piece of 1.5 or 2" thick insulating foam. Usually on the bench. (Bench is 90X46) Or, on horses as discussed yesterday. I use a shop made track saw that fits my Skil worm drive. For truing a rough sawn board, I make one side straight on the jointer, or by hand, and run it through the table saw. Unlike Larry, I'm too old to heft a 4X8X3/4 on to the table saw.  Gene 'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' October 12, 201114 yr Author Good Morning Fellows,Happy birthday Larry and many more to come. Because we stay busy doing what we like to do helps to keep us young and alert especially when making models as you have proven.A good straight edge made out of MDF helps when truing a long board however I figure what pieces I can get out of the boards with a large curve and ripping it true would waste too much wood. So I layout the smaller pieces slightly over size and cross cut them out of the board and then true up the shorter pieces and end up with less waist.
