October 13, 201114 yr While I was waiting on better glue to arrive I decided that I was going to give myself a bit of a creativity test. Â I had seen a video recently from I believe someone here on the forum that had posted it, either that or I just happened to be surfing lathe videos. Either way I decided I would watch one about creating eggs. I have to admit the guy was good to be able to turn something that looked reasonably like an egg as fast as he did. Anyhow, My point is that I decided to try it myself as a test to see if what I had in my mind I could put to wood and I did except for the last little bit. It seems as if I basically ran out of room so I had to end it a bit short. Other than that and the fact that the sanding is not quite complete, I do believe we have an egg. It comes out to about the size of a Banty or Bantam egg. Â Made from a piece of Cedar 1.5x1.5x 2.5" Â Â Charles

October 18, 201114 yr Looks cool. A bit of advice--if you have a chuck, grab one end of your stock with it, then you can completely turn the opposite end. Turn both ends, between centers, and leave enough on the tailstock end the *almost* finish the headstock end. Then cut off the tailstock end and sand the surface. While supporting the "egg", cut off the very last nub at the headstock end. Finish sand that small spot by hand. Semper fiwww.swearingen-turnings.com
October 18, 201114 yr I didn't do any eggs, Charles, I turned Apples. Give those a try when you get a chance. John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
October 18, 201114 yr I cut those from some Osage Orange. I will check my notes, I have forgotten the sizes I made each apple. They were in sets of four, each one getting smaller. You could for sure handle the small one. John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
