October 19, 201114 yr Good Morning Friends,I was in the hardware store yesterday and I noticed a rack of different items to be used in the winterazation of the home and one section was showing the home owner or renter installing plastic film over the window and shrinking it with a heat gun or hair drier. Is such an installation really a good practice or is it closing the home in too tight?
October 19, 201114 yr The replacement windows we have I don't worry about. We do have several single windows that I put plastic on. It does help a little. Harry BrinkBulldog WoodworkingMontana
October 20, 201114 yr Author Good Morning Harry,All of our windows are wood with insulated glass in most of them that I installed some 20 years ago and it is too costly to replace them at this time and the loss of heat when removing the old ones and installing the new modern ones is out of the question. So I am planning on making temporary storm windows for them at least for this winter and not use the shrink plastic on the inside for the wife likes to decorate the windows for the holidays.Thank you for your support.
