October 20, 201114 yr Good Morning Friends,Our patio door opens to the patio and is the only egress to the out doors from our dining area in the kitchen.Would it be a good idea to build a wind break affair to keep the snow from piling up around the door during the winter months and what would be your suggestions for such a wind break?

October 20, 201114 yr That would work, but think about doing this:Make a screened-in porch out of the patio, by building a roof and posts and plates for the screen. You could also have another door in the screened-in porch. We have one and use it all summer. No bugs, and you can even sit outside in a soft rain.Larry

October 21, 201114 yr Author Good Morning Felows,Bingo on your answers and the comfort of such a structure would in deed be the ticket, that is if the building department will allow or the construction of said unit. I'll need to check however if I remember right one would not need a building permit if the structure is not over 200 SF. Otherwise I'll have to go with a three sided structure with a sloping roof to allow me to have the 5' necessary for my wife's wheel chair should she be able to get out of bed to travel. Thank you both for your support.
