Good Morning Friends,

During the year there are several weather conditions that may cause you to loose the electric power for more than one day. What measures of preparation do you have if and when this happens?

Generator.

We have flashlights and a battery lantern.

It happens up here  but not very often.

Several flashlights kept at strategic locations, along with a couple of battery powered lanterns, and a hand cranked radio. We live about 10 miles from any kind of populated area so when the power goes out from a storm we usually have to wait a good while.

Good Morning Fellows,

It seems that we are all on the same page with this topic and the main thing is to look ahead for just such a situation with a pantry full of canned food including meat that can be used during the outage. Lights run by batteries and used spairingly.

A generator is nice if you have one that you may plug in a few extension cords for necessary needs such as running the frig or TV. A battery operated radio on the emergency station for weather updates as well as safety conditions.

Thanks for your support.

I forgot about my water barrels, I have four plastic 55 gal. drums full. We're on a well so no power means no water, not fun. I also try to change them them out every 45 days or so. Alot of people forget about water until they are without it and realize how nessacary it is. I also have a propane camp stove, and normally will 3 20lb. cylinders on hand, for heat in the shop, and the grill.
