WOODWORKING QUIZ for 23 OCT 11 "a learning tool"

Featured Replies

Good Morning Friends,

I could have sworn that I posted a quiz for yesterday but for some reason I can't find it if I did.

Oh, well here is one for today. When wiring your shop what maximum amperage can you expect from the following wires?

14 Amp

12 Amp

10 Amp

How do you determine how many tools that you can run at the same time on each of the lines?

Keep turning them on until the breaker pops.....lol

My job is to give my kids things to discuss with their therapist

Ralph..

Think you ought to re-word the question.  Like, how many amps will a Number 14 wire take?

Larry

#14...15A Max

#12... 20A Max

#10... 30A Max

Check your motor plates for the Amperage draw.

My service box is 200 Amp wired with 2/0. the shop it's self is wired with #10 from 20A GFI breakers to no more than 4 outlets per run. 6 ea. 8' T8 florescent over head lights are all wired with #12 from 1 ea. 20A breaker. (one run)

I operate alone. Usually the DC and one other tool working at once. Have never tripped a breaker.
