Good Morning Friends,

When planning a room addition and you are ready to order the studs for the walls, using a rule of thumb how would you determine how many studs to order?

Length of wall in inches divided by 16" or whatever stud center is called for?

A "plain" wall,  16" on center, plus one stud.    Windows and doorways add to the total.

'and may the road raise up to meet ye'

3 for corners; four for windows; four for doorways and one for every 16" of linear dimension.

Good Morning Fellows,

All of your answers are correct and there are no mistakes, also here is another way for taking off the plans for the purchase of the amount needed. The rule of thumb here in my area is to count one stud for every foot of run plus two studs for each corner, two more for each of the windows and doors in the wall plus two more for each partition catcher. This will give you a reasonable amount of studs for the wall you are working on at the time of constructing said wall.

Thanks fellows for your support.
