October 31, 201114 yr  Well, I was going to build a little Shaker Style end table, but the leg stock wasn't working out right.   So, i re-did the "top" into a cutting board that will sit on a friend's kitchen sink.   The apron stock was "recycled" into stock for a new project....... A Blanket Chest.   Yes there will be pictures.  For right now, though, everything is in the "milling" process. Corner pieces have been shaped and milled.   The rest of the frame work is also milled up.   Even got TWO panels into the clamps last night.   It was a "marathon" 6 hour day out in the shop!   Four more of those old Oak rafters were 1) de-nailed, 2) resawn into 3/4" thick stock, 3) planed smooth.   Once all the black & rotted stuff was gone, some very nice wood showed up.  I also had a few pieces from earlier projects to add to the pile.   Also cut up ( or down?) that 14" wide board.   4/4 thick, bowed like all get out, and a few splits, I simply cut it to a more easy to use size.   Wasn't a pine board, either.  Yep, I'll take a picture of them as well.   Blanket Chest plans came from Norm Abram's first book.   I will be showing the raised panels on my version, though.   Raising them with just my tablesaw, again.   Hinges will be just regular hinges, not the "piano" style. Flat top, with a nice wide braed board edge ( for Ralph).   Oak is kind of dark.   Some is very light as well.   Should be fun blending it all together.  Well, I'm going back out there this evening, as I have tonight scheduled off at work.    Every other weekend is a three day "off" sort of thing.     Now, the question is;  PIP, or a BLOG?  'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
October 31, 201114 yr Excellent Steve! I always love your work, and I follow along with interest. I am always amazed at what you make with what you have. You can turn a pallet into an end table, and with just a few hand tools and a table saw. You are the reclaimed lumber guy on our site! PIP or Blog would be great, whatever you feel is most convenient for you. John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
