November 1, 201114 yr First let me say these pictures don't realy do this pen justice. I realy need to make a good backdrop and replace the wife's camera that I'm told I broke, My Iphone isn't the best camera for showing the true beauty in objects like this.  Any rate this is a pen that was posted on IAP a few months back by EarlD who is a very talented craftsman / artist and he was kind enough to share his technique for this pen and many of his others. It was such a beautiful pen that I wanted to turn one like his plus it was for a friends wife and I knew she would like it.  http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=86366&highlight=Cherry+Red+European+%23126 The blank came from Exoticblanks.com. It's a Medreperlato-Cheery Red on a Black Titanium Euro kit. I wouldn't have posted these pics except the pen is leaving me in a few minutes on it's way to it's new home and I wanted to record the results. Thanks for viewing!
November 1, 201114 yr Very nice pen, Mike, I like to use the euro kit and make a custom centerband. Once you do one, you will want to do more. I just completed 2 pens today, they were a last minute sale, one slimline dressed in red cedar, and one cigar dressed in hickory.
November 1, 201114 yr Beautiful!  I love those deep dark colors like this one.  It's gorgeous!   SQ It it can't be fixed with glue and sawdust - it's not worth fixing.
November 1, 201114 yr Very nice pen Mike. That should make them very proud to use and display it. Thanks for taking the time to capture it and post it for all to see. Wonderful job.  John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
November 1, 201114 yr This is called a LongPen, my design. Single twist. It is a wood laminate pen... NO acrylics. About 100 layers of diagonally laminated SA woods.
November 1, 201114 yr Thanks, Charles. As Mike said, pictures don't do them justice. There are a hundred, or more 1/32" layers of veneer in that one. Heres one that took me about 2 weeks to get right. There are about 20 pieces of Tulip wood, Ebony and Cherry wood in it. Got a couple hundred made for a craft show in VA, can't post them all. But they're all for sale.
