November 2, 201114 yr I was playing golf a few weeks back and standing on the green looking back into the woods and saw this huge burl. Â I just need to figure someway to get in there and cut that baby down. Â John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
November 2, 201114 yr Cutting it down isn't the problem. Not getting caught is the problem! Ron DudelstonAbove and Beyond WoodWorks
November 2, 201114 yr Bill Murry could get that for you. But it would involve explosives, a gopher and Kenny Loggins singing. Â Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.nethttp://www.awcreationsandwoodcrafts.com'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk' J. Vernon McGee
November 2, 201114 yr Author It is kinda strange what you notice when you are a woodworker. Instead of thinking about the putt, I am looking at the trees and seeing lumber. Â John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
November 2, 201114 yr Holy cow, that's a dangerous growth. Â That's gotta come down! Â Â SQ Â It it can't be fixed with glue and sawdust - it's not worth fixing.
November 3, 201114 yr  Even if you did get it cut out of there, it would be one heck of a challenge to cut and preserve to avoid cracking during drying. However, having said that, I'd love to give it a try. I'd also love to see a crosscut of all those different burls,
November 3, 201114 yr Do it at night and as Elmer Fudd says "Be vary vary quiet". Tell the course your from the Government office of diseased trees and in order to save the forest that tree must come down...for all we know there probably is a govt office like that. Tell them your the office Czar.
November 3, 201114 yr Author I am loving all of the suggestions. I would sure like to get my hands on that burl. I know a few people that work at the course and I think I am going to talk to them about it. At least get my name on the waiting list. If a storm were to happen to blow it down, I want to be there to get that part of it anyway. I'm not sure you can tell by the picture, but I would guess it is at least six feet across at the burl. That is a really big tree. John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
