It it can't be fixed with glue and sawdust - it's not worth fixing.

John,

I love wooden spoons.  It's another project I have always wanted to make.  I'm hoping to try a spoon tomorrow.  These would make great gifts.

Greetings All

Carl got some excelent Youtube video clips. Easy to follow and great ideas to try.

Keep on turning, if not today, do it tomorrow.

Cool Video!  Wish I was that confident/competent with the skew chisel!

Lewis,

I tried this spoon.  The turning part went well, but the carving left much to be desired. I tried it using a scrap of ash wood, which was a poor choice as carving was tedious.  This spoon has a wonderful turned handle and bowl, but the rest of the shape would definitely win first place in the ugliest spoon category.  LOL  I have given up on spoons and will concentrate on spatulas from now on.

Ash is very hard. They used to make baseball bats from it- maybe they still do? Cherry is a good wood to use as well as Beech. I always look at the wooden spoons while Mimi is shopping for other "stuff" (spelled clothes). I notice that some of the spoons are made from Bamboo.

I agree, he has lots of great videos.  I'm certainly not blaming him for the ugliest spoon in the universe.  lol  It was certainly my doing.
