November 8, 201114 yr I've been working on a fold down out-feed table for my table saw. I'm at the stage I need to make/install some fold down/up table legs. Anyone have experience with type of hardware? I can go with either just the hardware and make my own leg or complete folding legs. I would need some adjustment in the leg as one side it 1/2'' shorter that the tallest side. Long side is 34". As a side note we have a nice brisk 0 degrees today.
November 8, 201114 yr How about some 2 x 4 legs and butt hinges mounted to the underside of the top. At that temperature, I'm surprised you don't have the garage door up!
November 8, 201114 yr Author I thought of that but I'm thinking I need something that lock in place when the leg are down. Maybe I'm over thinking this.Lewis Kauffman said:How about some 2 x 4 legs and butt hinges mounted to the underside of the top. At that temperature, I'm surprised you don't have the garage door up!
November 8, 201114 yr Richard I used these for a cart that we used for working on jet engine fan blades and they worked very well and will suport a lot of weight.  http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=10227
November 8, 201114 yr I have the Rockler folding outfeed table on my Jet contractor saw which works very well. Since you already have the table made and you just need the hinges, you can buy them separately from Rockler for about $11 for the pair. They work very well and support enough weight for the table for cutting and medium weight if you want to use it as an assembly table. I would not trust them for heavier weights. You just add them to your pre-made legs of about 1.5" square or so. The brackets are locking both in the open and closed position so you have to push a button to release them when you unfold or fold them. Here are the leg brackets from Rockler: http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=5817&filter=folding%20l... Â Â As for adjustability, you can drill out a hole in the bottom of the leg and put in a threaded "T-Nut" and then install a threaded leveler or glide which you can get at your local Home Center or Rockler. November 8, 201114 yr With a 2 x 4 leg, you could add a flip out plywood panel to prevent the leg from folding. Similar idea as Allen showed from Rockler but cheaper. Richard McComas said:I thought of that but I'm thinking I need something that lock in place when the leg are down. November 9, 201114 yr Rich, I built a fold up extension on my work bench and used these from Rockler. Â They have held up good, they lock in place when down. Â Â John Moody John Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
