Yea, I know it is now Friday, but then Friday is a holiday and a day we remember all Veterans. It does give many a long weekend also and so I decided to post our message today and see what your plans are for the long weekend.

Me, I certainly want to stop and remember the freedoms I have and thank those that have served and those that have given their all so that I may enjoy the freedoms today and everyday. What a great country  we live in even with what we all see are different problems, we still live in the greatest country.

Thank you to all of you that serve, have served and died for the freedoms of The United States of America.

I will be making the top for the kitchen island this weekend. (Yep Larry, I am finally going to cut that piece of Brazilian Cherry.) I have the doors made and installed and I do need to finish the inside shelves that pull out.

ning-20111107-203357-239-37970-29.jpg?wiWhen all of the woodworking is finished, I will start getting the cabinet painted.

Also got to get a few cutting boards cut out as I have another craft show coming up in a couple of weeks.

What are you working on this long weekend. Time with the family, resting, working in the shop, or around the house? Share with us what you are working on please.

Doors turned out real nice John!.  Let's see....Friday I have to attend 2 Veteran's Day programs nd maybe eat for free at Applebees if I can get in.  Saturday is movie day with all 5 grandpups.  We're going to see Puss N Boots.  If I have have any energy left I'll finish 2 folding tables and start a table for my daughter in law.  Sunday, I'll watch the Colts lose again.

The wife needed a Paper Towel Holder, and while this seems quite amateurish for me, it is actually the perfect project as it is quick, has function and practicality, and would get me out in the shop in my limited time. So I sawed out the parts and began to sand them down. Tomorrow I hope to finish sanding it and get some finish on it, in time for the in-laws coming to the house from NH.

My wife was off yesterday for Veterans Day so we spent most of the day together. We did all of our grocery shopping for the week, shared some tortilla soup and chicken fajitas at "On The Border" Mexican Restaurant, then went and saw the new movie "Tower Heist" which is a comedy. It wasn't very thrilling so my wife and I agreed that we should have gone to see "J. Edgar" instead which was our other option.

Today I finished running the rest of the children's rocking chairs with templates through the router table and then run 4 chairs worth of pieces through the router table using a round over bit so they are all ready for final sanding. Then I sat down and watched the USC/Washington game as the Trojans dominated and won. So it was a fun filled day making sawdust. I will be doing a local craft show on December 3rd so I got a couple of weeks to get a few things done.

My daughter decided to shoot a photo of me with her cell phone as she was walking in through the garage. She posted it to her "Facebook" so I snagged it to post here. Who says woodworkers are not snappy dressers?Grin.gif

We did the veterans day parade here yesterday and then sat in the house watching it rain. The rain clared this morning and I went back to work on the jointer. I am hoping to have all of the parts cleaned and rust removed by the end of this coming week. Most of the small parts are cleaned, still have the big parts left. 2nd coat of bondo on the main casting is on, sand it out tomorrow then prime it.

My job is to give my kids things to discuss with their therapist

my new shop week starts tomorrow as I need to replace inventory after todays craft show and build more inventory for upcoming shows after the Holidays.

needed to complete by Thursday evening are:

30 spatulas

6 cutting boars

6 full oval router carved bowls

6 divided router bowls

6 triangular snack bowls

6 round routed bowls (new templaes needed also)

8 pzza peels

6 laminated rolling pins

6 cheese boards

2 basket drawer units. plans and designs need to be developed yet.

All this and I also have to work full time. I guess the wife and I are hooked on these craft shows now as ur second showing doubled our first for sales.

Who needs sleep right Grin.gif. Sounds like your making some good sale, hope it keeps up for you.

I had to work on Veteran's Day.  :(  We went and saw the J Edgar movie on Friday night. The movie was pretty much what we expected. All the rumors we had heard about him for so many years were clearly depicted in the film.  Interesting movie, but certainly not up beat.  Film was a clear example of why one very powerful person should never be allowed to have that much power for that many years.  I cut out a few more spatulas and even enlarged the size to make a set of three spatulas in varying sizes. Today we have a birthday to go to for the twins in the family who are turning two.  Not a lot of woodworking this weekend.  :(

It it can't be fixed with glue and sawdust - it's not worth fixing.

Wow John you have been a busy person in the shop. Sounds like your craft shows have been really good. Congratulations on the great success.

Keep those pictures of the projects coming. We love to see them.
