Good Morning Friends,

Being the lazy person that I am and I need several pieces of the same size I measure once and then use the piece I measured to mark out the rest of the pieces I need by laying it on top of the board and flush the end of that piece and mark the succeeding piece and cut on the line.

What method do you use to end up with equal pieces in length?

Pretty much the same here, Ralph.

I'll mark if using the circular saw. I always mark using the same original piece.

If I'm using a cutoff/miter saw or the TS and miter guage, and it's only a few cuts, I lay the first cut piece on the one to be cut and then slide it up next to the blade.

If I have a large number to be cut, I'll use a stop block.

Pretty much what Gene said. I always mark the first piece I cut as the pattern so I don't introduce any errors.

I do the same as Gene also.

I will take the time to do a jig or some kind of stop and cut it with a miter saw, or table saw (I don't have a RAS yet).  My miter saw is on a table that has extensions that go out to 12 feet each direction. If its sheet work I use the table saw because it can cover 52".  I have a panel cuter for my table saw.  I don't use my circular saw for anything but rough cuts.  That's just the way I am.

Good Mornng All,

Great answers fellows and I too use a stop block however when I do use the stop block I cut a 1/4" edge on the bottom so no saw dust can gather next to the bottom and cause a mistake with cutting the next pieces shorter than desired. Every once in a while you have to blow the dust out of that space in order to get the desired results.

Thanks you all for your support.
