November 18, 201114 yr Good Morning Friends,You are running base trim and you cut a 45º angle on both pieces for an outside corner but when you put them together there is a fine opening on the very end of the joint. Does that mean that you need to make another cut on the miter saw or can you close that small gap with out filling it with putty? If so how would you do it?
November 18, 201114 yr Sometimes very small gaps can be "repaired" by recutting the miter- in place- with a hand saw (gent's saw, dovetail saw, small back saw). By carefully recutting through the miter joint, it will make both miter faces parallel and may close the gap. Extreme care must be taken not to damage the wall/corner using this method.
November 18, 201114 yr Just use a hacksaw blade, and recut in place.    Be sure to blow out any sawdust in the kerf.  'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
November 19, 201114 yr Assuming that you are talking about an extremely small gap, just burnish, or tap it with the face of your hammer.
November 19, 201114 yr Author Good Morning Felows,Rick has the answer I was looking for it is a simple matter to just burnish the joint and no one will hardly ever notice it.
