Friday, Late, What's on your woodworking Schedule this Weekend

Featured Replies

Well here it is late on Friday, but just the same we can still get into what we are working on this weekend.

Me, I have a craft show tomorrow and then one more in December and I will be finished for this year. Couple of months off before things get going again.

I will also be working on the Kitchen Island project. It is getting close to the end. I am shooting to have it installed before Thanksgiving. Final sanding and paint on the lower part and Varnish on the top and it is ready to deliver.

Trying to get a few orders filled and shipped by the first of the week also. I just love this time of the year when everything is hustle and bustle.

So what about you, what are you working on this weekend. Share a few pictures if you have them.

I got a call from a lady in New York that wanted a cutting board and 3 trivets, so I got those all made up as well as few extra trivets with the leftover pieces and sanded today. All that's left is to put on the mineral oil and I can ship them out on Monday. I still have to get a rocking chair painted and one sprayed with shellac so that I can use those as samples for the craft show that I will be doing on December 3rd. I have had 7 cutting boards (three "3D" and four "End Grain") sold the past 2 weeks so all that money goes to my wife's "Christmas Gift Fund". So far I got $300 there for her and we should get another $100-$200 before the first week of December is done.

Here are the trivets and cutting board that I got completed today.

I used my gluing trays for these and they worked out really well. For the trivets I glued up 3 at a time so I was able to do all of them in one gluing session in the afternoon and then got them drum sanded and trimmed in the evening. I am so glad that I made those trays as they have made my life easier.

Looking good Charles, If you have a picture hanging on the wall with a piece of wire, that wire will make some nice burn rings, that is what I use.

while it was wood working I was in the woods for this!!!

That shaving brush is coming along nicely. Since being able to change speeds on the fly, I expect that work will get completed much faster than before.

I also had a problem with the old goggles, in that they were constantly fogging. the new ones not only have not fogged so far, but they are also large enough to fit over my glasses so I can see. These goggles came with the lathe and are probably the better of any I have seen for anti fog. The drawback is that the strap is non adjustable so its a bit tight at the moment but i suspect that it will stretch a bit over time.

And now for the near finished stage minus sanding and sealing.

ning-000-0003-37702-16.jpg?width=721ning-000-0005-37702-40.jpg?width=721If i had some piano wire I'd dress it up a bit more but i don't have any of that yet.

For you guys and ladies that use the General Finishes products, Is that water proof after drying? Or do I need to get something else for that?

By the way, that's Beech that the brush is being made from.

Once this is done then it's on to a few pens that I need to get made for an upcoming show and a few gifts. Maybe even a few small fridge magnets will get made too

Thanks for looking!

I've had an order for the Tree of Life, from someone from my church. Psalms 1:3 so working on that. 7 Orders for jewelry boxed like what is on my profile to get started on. Just finished up the trophies for the National Baseball Club, and 2 display cases for NFL players.

Those are beautiful!  What kind of wood is that?  Your color combinations are outstanding.

I'm actually happy to report that I will be working on several things this weekend. I will be finishing a shaving brush at least as far as to the point of needing a waterproof sealer. a few pens also need to get made. I hope to also get 1 or 2 of my hidden compartment key chains done but need a 10mm bit for that so it may have to wait til mid week.

During all this I will also be adding the things I do get done to a new website I am building. So at least the next several days will be busy. I also have to take frequent breaks as the doc has ordered to allow things to heal.

Have a great weekend everyone

Here is the new site that I am building, let me know what you think.

If it requires another discussion I'll do that.
