November 25, 201114 yr comment_37465 Good Morning Friends,After an unusual rain from the north east rather than the normal western direction a fellow noticed a leak that allowed water to run down the wall just under an area below a dormer on the second floor. However he couldn't find a leak anywhere close to the area it was coming in through his ceiling.Where then do you suppose it was getting in? Report
November 25, 201114 yr comment_37467 Would that be from failed or missing caulking around the window on the second floor? Report
November 26, 201114 yr Author comment_37466 Good Morning Rick,You are close but in reality the leak was from the valley of the roof connection to the common rafters of the roof that was not sealed and the water ran down the common rafter to the top plate and then down the wall. So the fix was to put some liquid fibered roof coating on the edges of the shingles on both sides of the valley metal and the leak was taken care of.Finding a leak source can be frustrating at times especially if you don't go to the attic to search the trail of the water running down a rafter or truss. Thanks for your support.
