November 26, 201114 yr Good Morning Friends,When adding on a room to the house with the width of less than the width of the home, why won't the ridge line not meet the height of the original house ridge?
November 27, 201114 yr Author Good Morning All,Since no one came up with an answer, the reason is that even though the rise over run was the same as the rest of the house the span is less than the rest of the house so there is no way the ridge could ever be the same height as the original house. A house that is 24' span and the rise over run would be 48" while the room addition is only 16' the rise of the roof would only be 32" so the ridge of the new roof would be 16" below the existing house ridge.
