December 1, 201114 yr I found one of these at a yard sale in KY. It's one side of a fancy horse collar. Think Budweiser Clydesdales.http://www.routerforums.com/attachments/jigs-fixtures/47863d1322764191-clydesdale-walking-stick-brass-1.jpg' rel="Lightbox" id="attachment47863" target="_blank" name="attachment47863"> It will be the top of an inlaid walking stick. I don't turn, so I'm now in the process of building a simple router jig to turn the stick. Ala Bill Hylton in Router Magic. When I get the jig built I'll have some pics. Then more as I use it to turn and create cavities for epoxy and turquoise inlays. We are headed for Okinawa on the 12th of this month, so the build may be prolonged. Stay tuned.  Gene 'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton

December 1, 201114 yr Author Thanks John. It's just a two week TDY. We will have fun. I want to go woodshop hunting while we're there. We can't drive over there, so I hope my son is up for it.John Moody said: We'll be waiting Gene. December 2, 201114 yr What a great find! Â That's a great idea for the top of a walking stick. Â I'm anxious to see it, too. Â SQIt it can't be fixed with glue and sawdust - it's not worth fixing.
December 2, 201114 yr Right on Gene! Great find indeed! That is going to make a very interesting stick, I love items with history, it can turn an every day item into a full blown discussion piece.John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
December 10, 201114 yr Author Here's the router lathe box with the router in place. I used a Bowl Cutter to rout the cane. This is the crank end. Just turn the crank and move the router. Here is the dial to locate the cavities for the inlay. The little square block is on the end of a 1/4" dowel through the dial and in to the box end. Here's the hame and end cap loosely fitted on the walnut cane. Good fit, by golly! When we get back, I'll do the inlays. Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton
