December 2, 201114 yr Here we are just 23 days from Christmas. I know you must be working on something. I have the last craft show of the season tonight. It is an outdoor show and it is the lighting of the Christmas lights in downtown Florence. I got my long johns and heater ready. Usually a big crowd at this one.I have a few more orders to fill for the holidays. Cutting boards, shadow boxes and pen and pencil sets.I have a couple of in the house projects to finish this weekend so I may only be running in and out of the shop. How about you? What are you working on this weekend? Remember, only 23 more shopping (woodworking) days!!John Moody John Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
December 2, 201114 yr I got a show tomorrow so my wife and I were getting things together last night. I will be cleaning out my inventory of cutting boards as well as a few rolling pins that I have had left over for a couple Christmases ago and a desk pen set with a walnut base and olive wood pens. That along with the rocking chairs and we should do good as long as the winds die down and don't blow us away. We made up a dozen "Mason Jar Candles" which we have made for a number of years as gifts. We use pint sized mason jars and stuff them with Christmas type stuff and then fill them with lamp oil. We use 2 lid seals with on solid and the other with a hole in it to fit a glass wick holder into with the wick reaching down into the oil. They are cheap and easy to make and look cool. What doesn't sell will be gifts to some of my wife's co-workers.Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.nethttp://www.awcreationsandwoodcrafts.com'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk' J. December 2, 201114 yr Dang cabinets again John! We have been getting rain outs here over the last few weekends, my cabinets are so big I need to move them out to the back area outside to work on them and I have been hampered by rain. Today I need to get cracking and close the distance to my final paycheck on this project, we are expecting more rain this weekend.John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker

December 2, 201114 yr  Just picked up a order for a large Toy Box.    I'll have to cut all the parts out at the "Barn" , then bring them home to assemble and finish.  Also have a table to work on... 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
December 3, 201114 yr So on Wednesday the young neighbor, mother of 2 tiny girls under the age of 4, said to Mimi, "Do you think Lew could make a play kitchen set, for Christmas? Nothing fancy- frig/freezer,sink,stove/oven. Oh, I have some knobs. I'll send you a link to what I had in mind." Well a sheet of plywood and some 1 x stock later, I have the carcass knocked out. This is what she sent me I'll post mine when it's finished

December 3, 201114 yr I'll be sorting, cleaning and rearranging my garage / shop again this week as I have been doing for pass 2 weeks. The back wall of my shop I have never really like it so 2 weeks ago been moving things around and tossing some out the door. Had 4 metal shelves on that wall. Got it down to 2 metal shelves for my hardware and whatnot's.  was able to build a 5 ft long work bench for the empty space and moved my grinder and motor which I will used for sanding Intrasia pieces. All I have to do on that work bench is to make 2 drawers. Tomorrow I'll finish sweeping and vacuuming the shop and then open the 2 single garage overhead doors so I can air blow out the very fine dust out with the blower side of my 16 gallon 6.25 hp shop van. Last time I did that was back in March. I'll better find my dust mask for this one. It really is dusty this time. After that, I'm going to be looking out where or how I am going to do with my lumber rack. I like the way I did it, but not where I put it. That may take me about another week and half to do. Just a lot of slow dusty work. December 3, 201114 yr I need to finish a wine box. Â The husband of a gal at work made a box to hold a bottle of wine. Â I am making the lid for this box and personalizing it with a couple's names, date of marriage, and grape leaves and grapes. Â Need to get this done today. Â If I get the wine box done today, I can spend some time turning some bowls tomorrow, and cutting out more bowls and gluing them up so I have plenty of items for my up and coming vacation time which starts Dec 15th. Â Also need to get the house decorated for the holiday season. Â Do I turn bowls on Sunday or decorate the house and put up the tree? Â I'm hoping to do both. Â Off to the shop to finish the wine box.SQÂ It it can't be fixed with glue and sawdust - it's not worth fixing.
December 3, 201114 yr Author Sounds like a nice wine box Susie.Best of luck in getting both the bowls and the house ready.John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
December 3, 201114 yr Wayne, this is one of the funnest moments in woodworking in my opinion, is fine tuning your shop to be what and where you want it. December 4, 201114 yr Author Congratulations on the sales John. I know what you mean about selling all the items. It is good to see they sold, but you know it means more work and soon. But that is what we do and it keeps us in the shop. Like you at times after a show, I just have to stop and clean up, and put everything away so I can start again.Best of luck with the show next week. I am now finished for this year with the shows, I am just filling orders now.John Hechel said:well after today sshow I sold out of bread boards, spatulas and nearly all of my laminated cheese/small cutting boards. while it was good to sell alot I now need to replace the by next Saturday.I was to tired to do any real work tonight so I just cleaned up and got things ready for tomorrow
