A Third Pulley Option for The Walker Turner Press

Featured Replies

I was perusing Walker Turner Presses on Youtube and found one where a fellow did a partial restoration on one, and in his video, his model appears to be the same as mine but with a third pulley in the works.

Interesting!!!

The Third pulley would be for a slow speed option

My job is to give my kids things to discuss with their therapist

A third pulley on most DPs I've seen, was to add more speeds.    Also, you can add a "reverse gear"  by watch how you thread the TWO belts.  One job I worked at used a couple benchtop DPs from Jet, both were 16 speed.    Two belts, three pulleys.   The one speed bypassed the third pulley.

It is the newest fad in belting. Link belts. They are not meant for everyday use in my opinion. I can see them as a possible emergency option to get a machine back up and running if a belt breaks. I think they are more prone to vibration and slipping than a regular V-belt.

Quite honestly Charles I bought the link belts for my table saw and they are supposed to reduce vibration, I saw no difference between the links and a standard v-belt. Some folks swear by them, but in my world they didn't seem to do much.
