December 3, 201114 yr Years ago, as I was about to toss a small log in my wood burner, I noticed what looked like a star in the middle of the log. I sliced a piece off and it sure looked like a star. I sliced off about 10 slabs and sealed them for future use. This year I rediscovered them and decided to make small nativity scenes. Each piece is about 6 inches in dia and each is marked differently. I believe it to be Spalted Apple. All have the star center and lines radiating out from it. I did get 9 made and they will all go to family for Christmas.
