December 8, 201114 yr Is there anyone here that can build a Challenge Coin Display case that hangs on the wall in time for Christmas? I have a customer who has contacted me and wants a custom display case built for her husbands collection of coins. I wish I had the time to do it but I don't. It's a paying gig, I can put you in contact with her if your interested. She has looked all over the internet and does not like what she has seen so she has some custom details she would like incorporated.Contact us here if your interested in some extra Christmas work.John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
December 8, 201114 yr I'm booked up and even if I had the time the distance between Indiana and California would be a big issue timewise and shipping wise.Ron DudelstonAbove and Beyond WoodWorks
December 8, 201114 yr What is it that she is looking for? Knowing a bit more about style and features would be helpful to determine if someone cold make it. I might be able to in between stuff that I am doing for family and church. Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.nethttp://www.awcreationsandwoodcrafts.com'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk' J. December 9, 201114 yr Author Allen, here is a case I built for a soldier a few months ago. There are 1/4" grooves cut in the shelves to hold the coins, the back is black velvet, it is a simple project, as simple is good, we want the challenge coins to stand out, not the case. Just to give ya an idea. So should I hook you guys us? Allen Worsham said: I have also never seen a photo of a challenge coin or a display up close so I am limited in my knowledge of the basic requirements. But it should be doable and not too time consuming. I was talking to our Administrative Pastor today and will be talking with our Small Groups Pastor on Sunday about some large frames that they want to go down the hall and put different media in as well as 4-5 benches that they want built to go in the foyer and down by the nursery of our church. So it looks like I will probably be a busy boy in the very near future. December 9, 201114 yr John,Go ahead and give her my email address and I will work with her to find out what it is that she is looking for and then I will post back with that information. If I can do it I will, but things are hitting the fan with more work on the horizon. If I can't then someone else might be able to do it.Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.nethttp://www.awcreationsandwoodcrafts.com'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk' J. December 9, 201114 yr John,I got an email from her and I will be taking care of it. I should be able to get it squared away next week, but the shipping may be an issue as it may not be able to be there by Christmas. What type of wood and stain did you use on the case that you did and posted above? She liked that color and wood but did not know what it was and I can't tell from here.Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.nethttp://www.awcreationsandwoodcrafts.com'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk' J. December 9, 201114 yr Author Allen, it is good ol American Black Walnut, from Reel Lumber. No stain, BLO and a couple coats of Watco Teak Oil. Just wipe on let set and wipe off. It makes a beautiful natural finish. As you can see with the Walnut, no stain needed. That is cool beans man that you and Karla got together on this. I want to thank you personally for picking this up. Please give us some progress pics as you go. And if you have any questions at all about the one I made, feel free to call me anytime. I used real glass for the door, I don't like plexi or lexan, it shows wear over time and yellows if in the sunlight. Allen Worsham said:John,I got an email from her and I will be taking care of it.
