December 8, 201114 yr I'm considering the purchase of an Clear Vue Cyclone dust collection system. Since I run a lot of my machines on a RPC I inquired about their 3 phase systems. Below is the email I received from them. What kind of Government BS is this. Anyone know anyone about this?Good morning Richard:Thank you for your interest in Clear Vue Cyclones!Normally we do offer our systems in a 3 phase option. A couple of months ago however, the Federal Government implemented regulatory changes on the efficiency of all 3P motors. This change resulted in a doubling of both size and weight of our 3P motors. At this time, we are looking at options and hope to have a solution within the next couple of months.I am happy to keep your information and contact you once we have a solution. I apologize for the inconvenience and please let me know if I can help with anything further.Take care,CathyClear Vue Cyclones8633 South 212th StreetKent, Washington 980311-888-299-0221, ext. 700www.clearvuecyclones.com

December 8, 201114 yr The program is nothing new. Don't know what ClearVue's actual motivation is for this unless they sell so few 3 phase machines that their old stock of motors finally ran out.  Also - this may only apply to a vendors ability to put a "premium" sticker on their morots. Sort of like the "Energy Star" stiockers on your electronics...NEMANEMA Releases Specification on NEMA Premium Motors - 16 Jun 2003NEMA issued the publication General Specification for Consultants -- Industrial and Municipal: NEMA Premium Efficiency Electric Motors (600 Volts or Less) which is intended to outline the minimum requirements for three-phase AC induction motors applied to municipal and industrial/commercial applications for operation on voltages 600 volts or less, rated 500 horsepower or less, operating more than 2000 hours per year at greater than 75 percent full-load. This is the first specification developed to assist users and system designers in specifying the use of NEMA Premium electric motors.
