Electrical question for new table saw

Featured Replies

OK  I didn't pay too much attention to the plug type and amps in planning to convert this table saw to 110 volts.  It came pre-wired for 220 volts.  The owner manual tells how to do that.  I have one plug on the wall for others tools that are 110 volts.  In converting the table saw to 110 volts, the manual says to change the power cord plug and the wall plug to 5-20 which is different than the usual 110 volt plug.  Also in reading the manual the  FULL LOAD CURRENT RATING at 110 volts is 16 amps. My question is would I be tripping the breaker at when I run this saw with say shop vac or electric heater?  Can I even run the electric heater or any other tools on the 5-20 type wall plug.  It would look like this one

NEMA 5-20       20-Amp     Grounded

Wayne, you probably won't kick a 20 amp breaker if you're running a saw and turn on a shop vac, however if you're running a shop vac and turn on the saw you may.  The amperage spike in on ionital startup.  I'd advise that you leave the saw on a dedicated breaker if possible.

That sort of what I figured.  Just needed someone else opinion.

Thanks
