How many of you use the WORKSHARP system? Your thoughts?

Featured Replies

A few questions regarding the Work Sharp system.

Is it worth the money?

Can it be used for sharpening turning tools?

What are the pros & cons of the Work Sharp?

Which models would you folks recommend, the 2000 or 3000?

I already have a low RPM 2 wheel grinder with the Wolverine jigs for my turning tools but could the Work Sharp replace them?

I have the WS3000 and it is a great tool!

I use it for my chisels and plane irons and it works as advertised and well worth the $$. While you can use the WS3000 for turning tools, using a slow speed grinder with the appropriate jigs to hold the right angles is a much better way to go. Note: I have the Wolverine system for my slow speed grinder which works great for me.

Thanks Allen, that's pretty much what I thought. I would use it for chisels and other tools that have a straight cutting edge.

We have the Worksharp 3000 and my husband loves it!  He does all the sharpening in this family.   He uses it for chisels and lathe tools.

Happiness is wood chips flying!

I really enjoy using my Workshop 3000.  I struggled with sharping before I got it.  Now it is easy to keep tools razor sharp.  I do not use it to sharpen turning tools.  I use a slow speed grinder and a Wolverine jig.  You can use it for turning tools though.  In fact one of our members made some jigs to help keep angles consistent.

Thanks guys and girls. The wife wanted to know what I wanted for Christmas but I couldn't think of anything except an easier way to sharpen chisels and now plane blades and I wanted to know how well the Worksharp performs.

I am not a user Mike but I have heard nothing but good reviews.

Mike I have the Worksharp 3000 and love it. It does an outstanding job on chisels, and hand plane blades. It is fast and consistent.

They have just come out with a new attachment to do turning tools with. I use the Wolverine Jig for those but they are trying to get it where it is easy to sharpen them on the WorkSharp.

You can also but sand paper disk at most places that carry it and use without having to special order.

It took me a little bit the first time I sharpened mine with on it to get everything right. I only thought I was getting a good edge on them. But I took every chisel and hand plan Iron and did them all in one evening and now I just have to touch them up as needed.

I would recommend it.

Thanks John for the info. I hope Santa can locate one locally otherwise I'll order one from Woodcraft through our website. Can we order through here for items that are in the local Woodcraft store for pickup and the website still get credit? It would save me shipping cost and the taxes!

Now that is a good question and I don't have the answer right off the top, but I will check on it and get back to you.

Thanks

John
