Friday - December 16th - What's on Your Woodworking Agenda

Featured Replies

Okay we are in the home stretch heading into Christmas. Can you believe we are only 9 days from Christmas Day! Where has this year gone?

I have been pushing to finish orders for Christmas items these past few weeks. I have three more cutting boards to get out right now and they are for local people so no shipping deadlines to have to make. Turned a pen last night for an order that came in late but I have it all ready. I am hoping Santa reads this and gets me a new digital camera. My camera broke and I have been taking my pictures with my Droid. It is okay, but now the best way to take pictures of some of the items. Anyway, I hope to have some pictures of a few items I have been working on up soon.

Christmas party tonight with my Sunday School class. Family Christmas time with my wife's family Saturday and Christmas with my family on Sunday. Doesn't leave much time to get into the shop, but I will grab a bit of time Saturday morning to finish the glue up on the cutting boards.

So what is on your agenda? Working in the shop or working on the shop or shopping?

Let us know what is going on in your woodworking world as we come into this Christmas Season. If you have made some projects, please post some pictures of them and share with the others.

My oldest granddaughter turns 11 tomorrow so the day will be spent with her.  Sunday, I'll watch the Colts fall to 0-14 and Monday I have to pick up a sheet of plywood to make a toybox out of.

I am not making anything for Christmas and all of my crafts stuff is done. Tonight we have a party for my wife's "Special Education Team" so we will be having 20-30 people here. Tomorrow we have to go toa funeral for one of my wife's distant relatives which will be about an hours drive. Sunday we will have church and then hang out with the kids and do some family photos for our annual Christmas Newsletter. Next week I will be doing some work in the shop clean up a few things as well as making a couple of jigs to make a bunch of frames for church. Christmas day we will just be hanging around the house and have a few friends over for a casual get together. The week after Christmas my wife and I will be driving to do a late Christmas with my in laws who live in Yuma, AZ which is about 270 miles away which typically takes us about 4.5 hours depending on traffic. We will be back home for New Years and don't have any plans as of yet.

After today my wife will be off work for 3 weeks so we will be spending a lot of time together which I am looking forward to. We may make a couple of day trips down to San Diego or out to the Ronald Reagan Library which is outside of Los Angeles. The Reagan Library is a great place to spend the day at as they have done a really good job with it.

Been busy re-organizing my shop past two days.  Trying to make a little more room for the new Grizzly table saw.  The rails on that thing stick out about 15 inches past the table and I'm bumping into as I walk around it and between one of my workbench.  I'm taking down the lumber rack that on the wall and moving it behind the miter saw bench. This will gives be about 24 to 30 inches floor space on the length of the garage.  Got one more shelf to move tomorrow and then I can start moving my drill press and air compressor against that wall.  Have to move my disk/ belt sander next to the miter bench and my 9 " band saw got move to where the disk / belt sander was.  In moving the lumber in the garage I found I had little more cherry and walnut than what I thought I had.  Mostly small stuff but could do scroll saw project or four.Earlier this week took some metal shelf bracket and some boards/ plywood (12 inches ) and made a small lumber rack in the new shed.  It about 4 ft long with 3 shelves.  Got a lot pf white wood pine that about 2 ft to 3 ft. I need to get rid off.  I guess I'll have to make more bird houses or feeders for my wife just to get rid of or have fire in the back yard fire pit.  Also have some  2x4's that about 20" to 36"  long put in there.  Also got some cedar on one shelf in that shed.  I''ll take pictures after I'm done making the mess.  In the shop.

I got 95% of the lists for gifts done for the paying jobs. Now it is time to make sure the jewelry box for my grand daughter gets finished. Everyone but one customer has picked up there stuff and that frees up some room for me.

Supposed to deliver the play kitchenette tomorrow.

Right now, trying to replace the sand filled, plastic, counter-balance weight from the bottom of a light. My doctor didn't want to throw it away. Made a form, along with some wooden inserts- for applying feet later and a bolt hole, filled it with concrete. Should be hard enough to remove later on today.

Wow, Ralph!! That's really cool!!

That is so cool Ralph. My granddaughter would love that. I guess I better pay attention and make her one.

Thanks for sharing it Ralph.
