Learn SketchUp

Featured Replies

Have you ever wanted to learn SketchUp, the best tutorial on the net is from one of our own members Chiefwoodworker, His site can be found at Swamp Road Woodworks and click on the tab SketchUp. His site is one of my favorites on the entire web! It is full of resources for woodworkers, I am a huge fan of Joe's work and his site.

His tutorials on SketchUp are very good. I wish I was better at it, but I just haven't had the time to really sit down with it and work through a project. It is a very powerful tool.

I have played with it a little John, I designed a nice end table with a drawer and shelf with SketchUp, the really neat thing about it is the Cutlist function. Hit the button and a cutlist is generated off your drawing. As long as you include every piece into your drawing, even the glue blocks and drawer slides, it gives it to ya.

Wow I wasn't aware of that John. That is pretty neat. I keep thinking I am going to spend some time with it and learn how, but I just can't find the time to sit down with the program and work through it.

I have used it to lay out patterns for the cutting boards but that is about it for me right now.
