Bottom Dust Collector Bags

Featured Replies

I have a Delta 50-760 1200 CFM dust collector. It came with two of the 6 mil plastic bags for the bottom to catch the dust. It has worked great but one of them busted this weekend when I was emptying. I still have one bag so I am still operational but I would like to go ahead and order some more.

So where do you get your bottom plastic bags for Delta dust collectors.

John,

Our local farm supply store (Fleet Farm) has 42 gallon contractor clean-up bags that are 32" x 50" x 3 mil thick. I know these are thinner but they are also disposable as I get 24 bags for under $10. perhaps a similar style store near you sells these?

Thanks John, I will check with either the Farmers CO-OP or a Tractor Supply that is close by. The ones I found when I googled were about 13.00/bag. I have had the ones that came with it for several years, but that just seemed like a lot to pay for a plastic bag.

For some reason I cannot switch over to the plastic bags as I am afraid that they will break.Especially since it sits over in the corner along with some other things like my table saw, grinder and scrap cart that bump up against it as I move them around on their mobile bases. Maybe one day I will.

Mine is the older version of yours. It is 1.5hp and came with the same standard cloth bags on both top and bottom. This was before the clear bags came onto the scene. When I ordered mine from Amazon I also ordered 2 shaker felt bags to replace the stock bags. I got them through American Fabric Filter who makes standard and custom sized shaker felt bags for industrial use. http://www.americanfabricfilter.com/

Okay, I guess I didn't know about that model. I got stuff all around mine and have I guess been lucky I have not punched a hole in a bag.

Thanks

I am sure that the plastic bags do ok or else they would not be used as widely as they are. I am just a bit paranoid and don't want a bag to rip in my garage. The shaker felt bags work great and really cut down on the fine dust.

I have the same bags as you do. I am waiting to order new ones. The problem I have is a piece hitting them and ripping them. I use packing tape to seal the hole but you can not reuse them then as it gets really weak there. I need to order a new 1 micron bag for the top too as mine is getting pretty worn. The last I looked Porter Cable wanted $20 for the bags and they were back ordered there too. Keep us posted. I do understand Rockler carries a similar bag but no loops for the band.

There are no bags on mine. It's vented to the outside.

No dust and more space. With a collector ahead of the turbine, hardly any (minute amounts) gets blown outside.

Gene,

What kind of a system do you have that requires no bag?  I'm very curious.

Mine is a Harbor Freight 2hp collector.

Here are a couple of pictures. I just ran a 4" vent pipe through the wall. The second picture is the collector that catches the debris. Very little escapes out the vent pipe.

If one were concerned about the dust collecting outside, it would be simple to add a container out there. We are very rural. I have no worries.
