Freedom Pens For Our Troops

Featured Replies

I am again this year going to continue my efforts with the freedom pen project. I am also going to devote some efforts in making pens for another great cause, Hope Pens for Cancer patients. I am looking forward to a new year with both these great causes. I decided to help with the Cancer project, since my MIL lost her life back in June of this year to a cancerous Brain Tumor. I am looking for a sponsor (s) with my efforts. I have lots of pen blanks, however I am going to need some kits. Slimlines will be fine. I have set myself a goal to do at least 20 per month for both of these great causes, so if you have some kits lying around that you want to donate, please let me know. As most of you know, I turn my troop pens to the arsenal once a month. I was given aa report by Boyce the other day by email, that we had made and presented 6920 pens since they began making them in 2007. I have another friend of mine that I will be doing pens for cancer patients as well. He has the contact as to where to send the ones for cancer.

Thanks again, Keith

Keith was the report by our own WWP rep Jennifer Boyce?

This a good cause Keith. Can you elaborate where the pens go to once a month and do you have a website link or any other info for the cancer cause? Good job Keith!

Keith, thanks for the great job you and the group are doing on turning the Freedom Pens. These guys do a great job of getting together and turning pens. I made a trip over to their meeting last year to witness their efforts. Great bunch of guys and lots of pens getting turned.

Sounds like another great cause, turning them for Hope Patients. I wish you the best, let me know when you get the information on where to send the kits. I'll look around and see what I have that I can send.

John Morris,

The pens of Hope project was started by an IAP member in Georgia, he made several pens and asked other members to make some pens as ell and send them to him. He then distributed them to cance patients in childrens hospitals. I just decided that I too want to try to make some and send them to him. I have also been asked to make some pens and donate them for sale for the Relay for Life coming up this year. I just want to get a head start on em. The Pens that are made atthe woodshop on the arsenal are distributed by the man in charge, Boyce Allen. They are send to several locations, and are also presented to the wounded soldiers also.

John Moody,

You can send the kits to me, I will be turning them myself. I have way more blanks than I can afford to buy kits for. And I want to do my part for these to great causes. Here is my address:

Keith,

I will see if we have any extra kits around here, also.  You are a busy man. Do you need any blanks or just the kits?
