January 2, 201214 yr I was wondering if anyone here may know of a supplier that handles dry 3" X 3" and 4" X 4" stock. There is no shortage of such dimensions, however, finding an affordable supply outside of the rather plain looking Walnut and Cherry that all of the usual suspects handle is proving to be a little tough.Any leads or suggestions wood be much appreciated.Donnie
January 2, 201214 yr Donny, I might be coming into some stuff like that. I will contact you when it happens, maybe in the next week or two. For now, I hate doing this, sending folks to another website, my philosophy is why give you a link to another site to answer your question, you came here to find answers, anyone can google. But in this case, since I don't have an answer here is a good start to find hard to find lumber, I hope this holds you over until you get some more answers.Woodfinder Marketplace.John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
January 2, 201214 yr Author I can wait to see what you come up with... my needs are not immediate. I'm just tired of working with the major suppliers and the boring wood. I don't necessarily need lots of bling, but a little character would be nice. And a decent price would be even better

January 8, 201214 yr  There are four 4x6 by 8' long beams laying on my shop floor RIGHT now,   One edge is a bit rotten/buggy.    How long were you long at?   They seem to be Oak or Ash.    Right now they are black as coal.  A few nails as well, but I usually pull them out.   Can't do much about the black stain them old iron cut nails leave behind......'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
