Have you ever used cedar to line a chest?

Featured Replies

I am starting to glue up my chest and am not in any particular hurry. I thought about lining the inside with aromatic cedar. Any one had experience with it in chests? I see where they offer cedar particle board and quarter inch cedar lining tongue and grove. If you use either one of them, what is the best way to attach them to the inside of the chest. I am also thinking about just lining the bottom and leave the sides alone.  I'd like to hear what others have done/think.

Thanks

The last one i made, that had cedar in it,  I used 1/4" thick slats, and just nailed them in place.    The storage area's bottom was plywood, so it got a cedar covering.    I had some "2x4"s that I ripped down for the slats.    I left them un-finished, just a sanding was all.  I didn't glue them down, just a few nails so they could "move" a bit.

I have not used Cedar lining Ron, I noticed it looks like you guys hammered allot of this out on the chatroom lastnight! Great job guys!

I made two chests in the last two years and neither had cedar lining. Now this was a productive response for you wasn't it.Grin.gif

I hadn't been on chat for a while and after I finished posting, I got on. There were several on, so I thought I may get some ideas that they wouldn't normally post. We had a good conversation, the the old guy had to go to bed. That would be me and a couple of othersGrin.gif
