January 7, 201214 yr I needed to turn a few presents for fellow woodworkers who had given me some wood this year so I though I would try segmented (52 segments of walnut and dogwood) and a couple different styles.
January 20, 201214 yr You did a great job on these! Â I am still new to turning myself and have basically stuck with slim lines until we can get back on our feet to d what I really want to do.
January 20, 201214 yr Daniel, Sorry I missed this post, but wow those are some nice looking pens. Good job on the segmented pen. That can be time consuming. What kind of wood is the third one down on the slimline kit?John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
January 22, 201214 yr Author That is dogwood from a retiree I have breakfast with a couple times a month. It came from his nieghbor's downed tree about a year ago.
October 2, 201312 yr Author  I thought I would revive this thread since it is about time to start Christmas presents. The segmented pens are not that hard to make and probably give the most design "bang" or bling for the level of diffeculty.Have fun,Dan Coleman
October 3, 201312 yr Excellent revival Dan!!! Nice pens. Segmented items make my brain cramp, my hat off to the folks who do it with bowls and pens and such! John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
