January 21, 201214 yr I have the back braces for my walnut rocker done, they are bent lam and shaped and sanded from 160,220,400,800 and then a 1000 Abralon pad. I love this sanding schedule, because coupled with a hand rubbed linseed and varnish finish, there is no need to do anything between finish applications, no sanding, no nothing. All the finish work is top heavy with sanding on this project. With the final 800 and Abralon sanding, the wood is burnished to a fine glowy sheen. So it is almost finished with just the sanding process alone. The first pic you can see the braces laying on their side so you can see the comfy profile that your back well sit against. The lower curvy part is the lumbar. This is a shot of the front of braces where would be resting your back against, see that beautiful ray of curl shooting across the center of the braces? Next shot is of the rear of the back braces or the rear of the chair As you can see, with the fine sanding I do, it is almost at a finished state with out even putting one coat of finish on. Imagine how this will pop when finish is applied!!! Thanks for looking guys.

January 22, 201214 yr Author Thanks John, it's great to be able to start to wrap up loose ends around the shop and this rocker is one of them that has been nagging at my coat tails for far too long. I cant' wait to get it finished and sold.I'll be working on it today some more and getting the chair refined before I start in on the shaping the arms and the transitions to the legs.John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
