My new saw arrived today. I got it all put together without any difficulty, tuned it up, connected it to a FORDUM foot switch I bought yesterday.

The saw works very well, no vibration and the variable speed works great. I didn't have the same problem John had with his stand, everything went together well, I assembled everything loose and then tightened everything after it was assembled and it's rock solid.

I did take the rubber feet that came with my drum sander and used those with some flat washers on the bottom of the legs and it's very stable. I cut several pieces of wood and it's a very nice saw.

I haven't installed the light but before I do I'm going to get longer screws for attaching the light with rubber washers and I hope that prevents the screws from striping out, I'll let you know how that goes.

I also found the saw easy to move with the rubber feet on the legs but will probably switch to casters soon.

I only have a few complaints:

1. The instructions aren't the greatest.

2. I have a few extras that aren't listed or discussed in the manual (see the pic) I assuming one item is a blade guard under the table, the other is a piece of stamped metal that looks like a slotted screwdriver.

3 the miter adjustment isn't the smoothest. It takes 2 hands to angle the top, not what I expected and the top miter pointer has a star screw that didn't come with a corresponding wrench. Other than those things I couldn't be happier.

 

Sorry for the formatting on this post but I'm using a laptop that isn't set up correctly while my desktop is being repaired. I tried to edit the post but it keeps getting worse so I'll leav it alone.

Glad you got your saw in and all setup. You are so right about the instructions. It was like look at the drawing and put it together.

Glad you didn't have the issue I had. I am looking forward to getting it going. I am so ready to cut a piece of wood on it.

I think I would still lean towards making a rolling cabinet for these though, just MHO.

Mystery solved! The picture I posted of the small piece of metal is a tool for releasing the fuse holder located below the motor on the right side of the saw housing.

I guess I better find somewhere to put that so I will know where it is if I every need that. I have a lot of those places, I just can't remember where they all are.

What I do on some of my tools is attach a heavy duty ziploc bag with double sided tape to the tool or base and in it I put the manual, small wrenches and any other documents that came with the tool.

John I started my work week on Tuesday and the shift I'm on hasn't given me much time to do anything with the saw. I did try a piece of 1.5" thick walnut and it cut through it very easily and with a different blade it should be better. I'll have some more info this weekend hopefully.
