February 16, 201214 yr  Made the 30 mile trip to Harbor freight tonight.    I was going there to pick up a new plane.    This little guy has been getting rave reviews, so I decided to get one to try out.   Called a #33 Bench Plane.   A few photos of this little plane.About the same size as my Defiance #3:Nice wood workthat blade is VERY sharp.   I need to go out to the "Barn" to try some shavings.   Cost of this plane?   About $9 out the door. February 16, 201214 yr Steve, that is pretty good at 9.00. How is the weight of the plane? Also you said it was very sharp, so I am reading into that as it came sharpened and ready to use. How about the back of the iron, is is flat?Looks good, we will want you to give us all the details, I am sure inquiring minds will want to know.John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
February 16, 201214 yr For that price, I may have to get me one, just because! My drive to H/F is a little over 90 miles, with snow and ice, so I'll have to check with them on-line! Harry BrinkBulldog WoodworkingMontana
February 16, 201214 yr Author Here is a "Family Portrait" of the metal planes in the shop:That #33 is actually closer to a stanley size #2  Smaller than a 3, yet bigger than the block plane.    Easy to move around, too. 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
February 16, 201214 yr Ok, Steven, how good does it work?I went to H/F and have one in my cart just waiting to hear what you think.ThanksHarry BrinkBulldog WoodworkingMontana
February 17, 201214 yr Author  Near as I can tell, it is a keeper.  Maybe a little honing on the blade is all that mine will need.  At $9, it's worth just the handles and brass parts.  This is a "Made in India",  and is a copy of a Stanley plane.  'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
February 17, 201214 yr Ok, thanks. I'm going to pull the trigger and order it. I haven't used a plane for a long time but now I'll have one and may get good use out of it.Harry BrinkBulldog WoodworkingMontana
February 18, 201214 yr Author  A picture or two of this plane in action.Took a couple tries to get a shaving out of it.   Nice thin ones at that.   Wood is some of my barn Oak.   Definately a size #3 or a tad smaller.  Seems to be easy to adjust.    I think I'll keep this one, guys.
