February 16, 201214 yr I have a laminate kitchen counter top that has lifted from the substrate in an are that's about 1' square. As much as the wife would love to change the counter tops to granite I would have to say NOT! My instinct tells me to heat the area with an iron to loosen up the glue and then weight it down until it cools. Would this be the easiest and best way to cure this problem or is there a better way?Â
February 16, 201214 yr Heating is worth a try. I have done this before, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.Â
February 17, 201214 yr MikeIt may work. All depends on why it lifted and if any water got behind it. But I would agree to at least give it an attempt to repair.Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
February 17, 201214 yr Mike, is it an area in the middle of the top? Or is it at an edge area where you can see under it while it is lifted up?John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops

February 18, 201214 yr Author It's towards the back of the counter top and I would have to remove the counter top to get at the lamination. I'll try the heat trick first. If that doesn't work I'll try a trick I've used on prop de-ice boots, drill a tiny hole in the laminate and inject adhesive into the de-laminated area and then press it into position and cross my fingers.John Morris said:Mike, is it an area in the middle of the top?
