How do i fill this and remain food safe?

Featured Replies

OK so I am working on this bowl and notice a couple of root or limb entries which of course is pretty common when dealing with wood as we do. My question is 2 parts, Do we fill these places or leave them as is?, and if we do fill them, what can we fill them with and still remain food safe? Although I have been making pens and such for about 2 years now, I have never had to deal with making sure something is absolutely food safe, so I do not know if a CA glue filling will be food safe after drying, will it?

Thanks for reading.

This website is new so it doesn't have much to it yet but you are welcome to take a look :)

Charles,

A one thing you could consider, would be to leave it as a piece of art and not use it for food. Then you would not have to fill it. What size is the piece? What kind of wood? Sure would like to see a picture of it when complete.
