February 19, 201214 yr I am looking for a jig pattern so we can cut pie shaped pieces to create a circle for making segmented bowls. Â Something that works with a table saw sled would be ideal. ( Hubby will be building it) Â Since the degrees will vary, it needs to be adjustable for different degrees and a stop block will be necessary for duplicate cuts. Â The ones I've seen plans for were fixed at 45 degrees for example, which won't work. Â Any help would be greatly appreciated. Â SQHappiness is wood chips flying!
February 19, 201214 yr Sue, can you post an example of something close to what your thinking of? I am having hard time visualizing this. Thanks!John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops
February 19, 201214 yr SusieSimple math will help. 22 1/2 degrees will get you 8 slices of a circle. 30 degrees will get you 6 slices. If I were to make a jig, I would prefer to set my miter gunge at the needed angle o achieve the correct cut. The only thing you nee3d to add is the kerf cut of the blade. Standard blades are 1/8 inch, I use a thinner blade so the math is a little more difficult. But a calculator and a little patience works out well. If you wanted to make a jig/sled then preset the correct angles and provide stops for them. All you would have to do is set it and cut. Hope this helps a bit.Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
February 19, 201214 yr Author Thanks guys,I actually found this helpful.  http://www.turnedwood.com/FrameMiterBowl.html It's a 15 degree sled. Thinking by unscrewing this and resetting the angle, it could be used for other angles..  SQHappiness is wood chips flying!
